IntrinSiC®

3D-printed ceramic components

Unique in all the world. With our innovative IntrinSiC® production solution, components which used to be impossible to make due to their complexity and size can now be created via 3D printing using ceramic silicon carbide. This process is the gateway to Industry 4.0 with regard to the manufacture of ceramic components and opens up new design freedom, such as in the area of especially lightweight and thermally stable components for firing processes.

Reinforcement sleeves for high-performance motors

They're lightweight, yet extraordinarily sturdy. With fiber composites, we are opening up new functions and application solutions for you. Our carbon- and fiberglass-reinforced reinforcement sleeves are used to secure drive magnets in high-performance electric motors. Their dimensionally stable and highly insulating material properties increase the efficiency of the motor and allow for a more compact design.

Latent Heat Carbon

New thermal management for batteries

Efficient thermal management for batteries decisively contributes to the safety of electric drives in vehicles. This is why we developed Latent Heat Carbon, a composite of phase-change materials (PCMs) and graphite. This material combines the outstanding heat-retention properties of PCMs with the high thermal conductivity of expanded graphite. The manufacturing method is new, too. Thanks to the foaming nature of the graphite, flexible geometries and optimum heat contact are possible. Latent Heat Carbon can also be used to cool electronic components and for the temperature regulation of neighboring components in the case of combustion engines.

Schunk Smart Charging

Intelligent charging technology for e-buses and battery-operated vehicles

Next stop: Recharging. With Schunk Smart Charging, you can reliably recharge the batteries of E-buses and industrial E-vehicles in just seconds, where the electricity can either be transferred via a pantograph or an inverted current collector. This system selection enables the charging strategy to be optimally adapted to existing infrastructures. In addition to public transportation, Schunk Smart Charging can also be efficiently used in many industrial sectors, such as for lifting vehicles at ports, airport vehicles and battery-operated mining vehicles.

Diamond Electrode

A brilliant idea for wastewater treatment

Thanks to innovative coating technology, we have succeeded in developing diamond electrodes for industrial wastewater treatment based on especially economical graphite and ceramic substrates. Here, the previously used high-precision and scarce Niob substrate is being replaced with graphite, CFCs and SiSiC/SSiC ceramics. Thanks to easy mechanical processing of the carbon substrate, in conjunction with a variety of different coatings, electrodes can be flexibly designed, fine-tuned to meet customer-specific needs and manufactured economically in larger series.

Brake Linings for Azimuth Brake Systems

Less noise and wear in wind power stations

There's a new tailwind for wind energy. With our brake linings made of carbon-based, metal-infiltrated materials, the azimuth brake systems of wind power stations now operate absolutely noise-free and nearly wear-free as well. This means that irritating squeaking noises are also a thing of the past, as is the soiling of gondola interiors with lining dust. Noise emissions are minimized, the service expenditure for reworking conventional brake linings is eliminated and vibrations due to slip-stick effects are passé.

SiC30

Higher performance for pump components and seal rings

Where other silicon carbide materials reach their limits, our premium proprietary SiC30 material sets new standards, especially when it comes to media with poor lubrication capabilities. It combines the good emergency-running properties of graphite with the hardness of silicon carbide. Using a complex production process, we impregnate highly porous electrographite with molten silicon. SiC30 impresses with its great emergency-running properties, high resistance to thermal shock and minimal tendency to blister, making it ideal for pump components and seal rings.

Shaft Grounding for Electrical Drives

Effective bearing protection ensures functional and process reliability

Our shaft grounding systems for industrial electric drives effectively divert stray currents to defined grounding points and thus protect ball bearings from functional damage caused by destructive micro arcs. Using an innovative thermal process, we bundle around 200,000 thin carbon fibers together into especially conductive and wear-resistant grounding cords. This compact design ensures that hard-to-reach places in the drive system can also be reached and that drives can be easily retrofitted. This enables service life and maintenance cycles to be optimized and generally allows expensive bearing surface coatings to be eliminated.
